Bone broth is one of the oldest and most effective foods for supporting immunity and digestive tract health. This traditional dish, which our ancestors consumed for centuries, contains valuable nutrients that support the body’s regeneration, strengthen bones, improve digestion, and contribute to overall health.

Why is bone broth so beneficial?

Bone broth is rich in collagen, gelatin, amino acids (glutamine, glycine, arginine) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus). These components have a key impact on health, especially when it comes to immunity, digestion and tissue regeneration.

Health benefits of bone broth

  • Strengthens the immune system – amino acids help the body fight infections and inflammation.

  • Supports digestive tract health – gelatin helps restore the intestinal lining, which is crucial for digestive problems, diarrhea, or leaky gut syndrome.

  • Detoxifies the body – glycine supports liver function and helps the body eliminate toxins.

  • Helps with infections and colds – warm bone broth thins mucus and reduces inflammation of the respiratory tract.

  • Supports joint and bone health – it contains substances important for the regeneration of cartilage and tendons.

Recipe for homemade bone broth

You can prepare bone broth at home easily and inexpensively. It is recommended to use bones from meats with a higher collagen content, for example beef, chicken, or fish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of bones (beef, chicken, or fish)

  • 2 liters of water

  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (helps release minerals from the bones)

  • 2 carrots

  • 1 onion

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 2 stalks of celery

  • 1 bunch of parsley

  • salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Place the bones in a large pot, cover with water, and add the vinegar. Let sit for 30 minutes to allow the minerals to be released.

  2. Bring to a boil and remove the foam that forms on the surface.

  3. Add the vegetables and seasonings and simmer over low heat for at least 6–12 hours (beef broth up to 24 hours, chicken around 6 hours, fish needs only 3–4 hours).

  4. After cooking, strain so that only the clear liquid remains.

Bone broth can be consumed as a standalone drink, or used as a base for soups and sauces. Thanks to its high nutrient content, it is a great addition to a healthy diet.
