Joint pain caused by arthritis or muscle cramps often comes at night and prevents a good night’s sleep. Common medications may only help temporarily – the pain then returns and long-term use can strain the liver or kidneys. Instead, some folk healers recommend a natural method based on an important mineral that reportedly helped many people.

Causes of arthritis and cramps

Pain, inflammation and cramps can have a number of causes:

  • excessive strain on muscles and joints
  • dehydration of the body
  • lack of minerals (e.g. magnesium, calcium) in the body
  • autoimmune reactions and chronic inflammations

Theory of “stuck electricity” in nerves

One theory says that when nerves are damaged, electric charge stops flowing through them and tension builds up at the affected site. This can lead to pain, burning, swelling, inflammation and other symptoms. According to this theory, this “locked charge” can be released using copper.

Why copper?

Copper is an essential element for our body – it activates enzymes, supports biochemical reactions and acts as a conductor of electrical signals in cells. If it is lacking in the body, some processes may stop working properly.

How to allegedly use copper against pain

  1. Take several copper coins (1, 2 or 5 cents) and place them on the painful area.
  2. After some time you should feel warmth, tingling or pulsation – according to tradition this means that copper is “drawing out” the trapped charge.
  3. If the pain subsides, you can move the coins or use them again later.

It is not recommended to use 10, 20 or 50-cent coins, because some contain aluminum, which may be unsuitable for the body.

Examples from practice

The original article includes stories of people who, according to them, were helped by copper:

  • Keith Young – after 1 week he felt relief, after 5 weeks he reportedly stopped taking analgesics.
  • Johnny Franks – after 15 years of arthritis the copper treatment reportedly relieved him and restored mobility.

Warnings and precautions

  • There is no reliable scientific evidence confirming that the method works.
  • Consult your doctor – do not stop taking prescribed medications without consultation.
  • If you have skin problems, wounds or metals in the body (implants, pacemaker), be cautious.
  • Use the method in moderation – excessive applications may lead to contact dermatitis.

Part of treatment, not a replacement

Copper and similar folk remedies should be viewed as complementary options, not as a replacement for medical care. In chronic diseases it is necessary to address the causes and cooperate with specialists.
