Preparation procedure
- Dough preparation: Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder. After thorough mixing, add the yolks and butter. Work the dough, which you will divide into two parts. Put one part of the dough in the refrigerator for 30–60 minutes.
- Preparation of the bottom layer: Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Use the dough that you left at room temperature for the bottom part of the cake. Spread it evenly on the baking sheet.
- Apple layer: Cut the apples into pieces, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and cinnamon. Spread them evenly over the dough on the baking sheet.
- Meringue: Whip the egg whites and sugar into a stiff meringue. Add the grated lemon zest to the meringue. Spread the meringue evenly over the apples.
