This cake impresses with its simplicity and the delicious combination of apples and pudding. The delicate buttery pastry and creamy filling create the perfect dessert you’ll fall in love with.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough: Sift the flour with the powdered sugar and baking powder. Add the cold butter cut into cubes and rub it in with your fingers until a crumb forms. Add the egg, yolks, cream and lemon zest to the mixture. Quickly work the dough and divide it into two parts (2/3 and 1/3). Wrap both parts of the dough in cling film and put them in the freezer for 2 hours.
  • Pre-baking the dough: Preheat the oven to 175 °C. Take the larger portion of the dough (2/3) and grate it into a greased baking tray (approximately 30 × 40 cm). Smooth the surface and prick the dough with a fork. Bake for about 15 minutes, until the dough turns golden.
  • Preparing the pudding: Meanwhile, cook the pudding from 750 ml milk, pudding powder and 4 tablespoons sugar. Cook the pudding according to the instructions and then let it cool slightly.
  • Preparing the apples: Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut them into eighths.
  • Assembling the cake: Spread the sliced apples over the pre-baked dough and evenly spread the warm pudding over them. Grate the remaining third of the dough over the pudding layer.
  • Baking: Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 180 °C for approximately 45–50 minutes, until the top layer of dough acquires a golden color.
  • Finishing: Sprinkle the hot cake with powdered sugar and let it cool.
