Preparation procedure
- Preparation of the cream: Start by preparing the vanilla pudding. Pour the milk into a pot and prepare the pudding according to the instructions. After it has cooled, stir in the butter and sugar. Beat the mixture until smooth and set aside.
- Preparation of the dough: In a bowl over a double boiler, whisk the butter with the eggs, baking soda and 5 tablespoons of milk. Then add the sugar and mix well. Add the flour to this mixture and mix well so that all the ingredients combine. Finally add the prepared pudding and mix well again. Divide the dough into two parts. Add cocoa to one of them so that that portion of the dough is dark.
- Preparation of the layers: Divide the dough into four parts, because you will need 4 layers. Add cocoa to two parts of the dough. Bake each layer for about 15 minutes at 160°C. Then let the layers cool.
- Preparation of the egg-white icing: In a bowl, whisk the egg white with the sugar and lemon juice until a stiff icing forms.
- Layering the bars: Start layering: Spread the light cream on a dark layer and cover with a light layer. On this light layer spread the dark cream and cover with another light layer. Spread the dark cream again and finally cover with the last dark layer. Pour the egg-white icing over everything and optionally decorate to taste.
- Cooling: Place the finished bars in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours so that all the layers meld together nicely and set.
