These savory sticks don’t require proofing, you can make them quickly and they still taste great. Quark and seeds add both tenderness and a pronounced texture – ideal refreshments with coffee, for get-togethers with friends, or as a healthy snack.

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda.
  • Add the quark, lard and one egg. Work into a smooth dough without lumps.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator for several hours.
  • On a floured board, roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1 cm.
  • Brush the surface with the second egg and sprinkle with seeds to taste.
  • Cut into sticks (approx. 1 × 4 cm) and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 20–25 minutes until golden.
