Ingredients: 1.5 cups all-purpose flour; 1 teaspoon baking powder; 1 packet vanilla sugar (8 g); 0.5 cup powdered sugar; 150 g softened butter; 3 egg yolks (reserve the whites for the meringue); 1200 g smooth semi-fat quark; 125 ml oil; 3/4 cup milk; 1 cream pudding powder (without sugar); 1 packet vanilla sugar; 3/4 cup sugar; 2 eggs; 2 yolks; 0.5 cup sugar; 5 egg whites

Preparation procedure

From all the ingredients for the dough we knead a smooth dough and press it evenly onto the bottom of a baking tray lined with baking paper or greased and sprinkled with breadcrumbs. In a bowl we whip the eggs, yolks, sugar and vanilla sugar. Gradually we add the smooth quark, oil, milk and pudding powder. A smooth and creamy mixture forms, which we spread evenly over the dough on the tray.
Put the cake into an oven preheated to 180 °C and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Just before it's fully baked, whisk the egg whites into a stiff meringue and gradually add the sugar until it dissolves. After the baking time has elapsed, remove the cake, spread the meringue layer, smooth the surface and put it back to bake for about 10 minutes at 170 °C. The meringue should only lighten in color; it should not brown.
Remove the cake, let it cool rapidly in a cold place and then place it in the refrigerator, ideally overnight, so that it sets perfectly and the golden droplets form.
