Preparation procedure
- Preparing the yeast mixture: In a bowl, mix the lukewarm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes so the yeast begins to work.
- Dough: To the risen mixture add the eggs, melted butter, flour, and a pinch of salt. Work into a smooth dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- Proofing: Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it has doubled in volume.
- Shaping the doughnuts: After rising, turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll it into a sheet about 3 mm thick. Use a glass or cup to cut circles 8-10 cm in diameter. Place a tablespoon of jam or Nutella on each circle and cover with another dough circle. Seal the edges well so the filling doesn't leak during baking.
- Second rising: Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 35 minutes.
- Baking: Preheat the oven to 170°C and bake the doughnuts until golden (approx. 15 minutes). If you prefer to fry the doughnuts, you can carefully fry them in hot oil.
- Finishing: Brush the finished doughnuts with melted butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
