These donuts are light, tender and not at all greasy like classic fried doughnuts. Thanks to the ricotta they have a rich flavor and puff up beautifully. Try them and see that you’ve never eaten better donuts!

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough Pour the flour into a bowl and add the eggs, butter, sugar, orange zest and ricotta. Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk together with a teaspoon of sugar and let it activate for about 15 minutes, then add it to the mixture.
  • Kneading and rising Work all the ingredients into a smooth dough. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place. For even fluffier donuts you can let the dough rise a little longer.
  • Shaping the donuts When the dough has risen, fold in the chocolate chips. Then transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out to about 1 cm thickness. Use a glass or a cutter to cut out the donuts.
  • Rising and baking Let the donuts rise a little longer while you preheat the oven to 180 °C. Bake them for about 20–25 minutes, until golden.
  • Finishing After removing them from the oven, sprinkle the donuts with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy them with your family.
