Preparation procedure

  • Base preparation: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. In a large bowl mix the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, baking powder, a pinch of salt and the cinnamon. Stir everything thoroughly so the ingredients combine evenly.
  • Liquid ingredients: Add the oil and milk and whisk with a whisk or mixer until smooth. The consistency should be similar to a thicker pancake batter – smooth and free of lumps.
  • Apples: Peel the apple, core it and cut into slices or cubes. Toss them with a pinch of cinnamon and add to the batter. Gently fold in so the pieces are distributed evenly.
  • Baking: Line a baking sheet (approx. 28×32 cm) with baking paper or grease with butter and dust with flour. Pour the batter and spread evenly. Bake 25–30 minutes, until the cake turns golden and a skewer inserted into the center comes out dry.
  • Finishing: After baking, let the cake cool for a while. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar, with yogurt, sour cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
