Preparation procedure

- First we prepare the yeast starter – crumble the yeast into warm milk, add a teaspoon of sugar and wait about 15 minutes until the starter rises.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl we mix the flour, butter, sugar, eggs, salt and add the starter.
- Knead the dough – if it is too runny, we can add flour.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about half an hour.
- When the dough has risen, transfer it onto a floured work surface and divide it into smaller buns.
- Roll each into a sheet about 5-7 mm thick.
- Now cut the sheets with the knife blade into strips 3 cm wide.
- Prepare a classic wooden rolling pin for the dough and cover it completely with aluminum foil.
- Carefully wind the strips onto it so that they overlap.
- Now just brush with oil and coat in a mixture of cinnamon sugar and nuts.
- Now transfer the trdelník on the rolling pin to a deeper baking tray. The dough must not touch the bottom of the tray and the rolling pin will serve you well for that.
- Simply rest the handles against the sides of the pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 150-160 degrees for 10-15 minutes until golden.
- After baking carefully remove the trdelník from the rolling pin and once again carefully coat it in a mixture of sugar and ground nuts.
- This amount of flour yields about 4-5 trdelníks.
