Ingredients

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the bread Cut the older bread into thicker slices (approx. 1.5 cm). Lightly spread mustard on one side of each piece.
  • Cheese filling Place slices or grated cheese on the mustard-coated side of the bread. The cheese will help bind the coating during frying.
  • Vegetable topping Arrange a ring of jarred pepper, a slice of cucumber and a half-moon of onion on top of the cheese. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
  • Assembling the sandwich Cover with the second slice of bread and press gently so the ingredients come together.
  • Coating In a deep plate beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. Coat the sandwiches first in the beaten egg and then turn them so the egg gets all around.
  • Frying Heat enough oil in a pan. Fry the sandwiches on both sides until golden (about 2–3 minutes per side). Let the finished fried sandwiches drain for a moment on a paper towel.
  • Serving Serve immediately, while still warm, ideally with a salad or pickled vegetables.

Total preparation time
