This recipe will delight you! You can prepare these buns from leavened dough quickly and without the long wait for rising. Thanks to the combination of butter and lard, the buns are soft, delicious and literally melt in your mouth.

  • Preparation of the starter: Sift the flour into a bowl and make a well. Pour the lukewarm milk into the well, crumble the yeast and add the sugar. Let the starter work for 10 minutes, until bubbles begin to form.
  • Kneading the dough: Add the softened butter, lard and egg yolks to the bowl. Mix everything thoroughly and work into a uniform, smooth dough.
  • Shaping the buns: Pinch off small pieces of dough and shape into balls. You can fill them with your favorite filling (for example jam or a nut mixture), or leave them plain. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Preparation for baking: Let the buns rest on the sheet for 10–15 minutes while the oven preheats to 170 °C.
  • Baking: Bake the buns in the preheated oven at 170 °C for approximately 20–25 minutes, until they turn golden.
  • Finishing: Sprinkle the finished buns with powdered sugar and serve.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor you can use vanilla sugar for sprinkling.
  • The buns are excellent even the next day – just warm them slightly or serve with your favorite jam or butter.
