Forget classic pot dumplings – these glass-jar dumplings are a hit in home kitchens! They have a beautiful shape, are easy to turn out and never fall apart. They go great with svíčková or goulash.

Preparation procedure

  • Dough preparation In a bowl, pour in the flour with the baking powder, add the salt and the chopped rolls. Stir, pour in the cold milk, the egg yolks and stir well again. Finally you can also add the chopped parsley.
  • Preparing the molds Grease the jars (for example from canned meat with a volume of 300 g) with lard and dust with coarse flour.
  • Finishing the dough Beat the egg whites into stiff peaks and gently fold them into the prepared mixture.
  • Filling and cooking Fill the jars up to three quarters full and place them in a pot with hot water – the water level should reach approximately halfway up the jars. Cover with a lid and cook for about 30 minutes (40 minutes for a larger batch).
  • Serving After cooking, pierce the dumplings with a skewer to let the steam escape, let stand for a moment and then carefully turn them out of the jars.
