  • Clean the beans and cut them into shorter pieces. Peel the potatoes and cut into smaller cubes.
  • Put the water or stock into a pot, add the beans, potatoes, bay leaves, and garlic; season with salt and a little pepper. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15 minutes until partially tender.
  • In a bowl mix the flour with the sweet paprika and whisk in 150 ml cold water or cream to prevent lumps.
  • Pour into the pot while stirring constantly and cook another 8–10 minutes, until the soup thickens and the vegetables soften. Add water as needed to reach the desired consistency.
  • Add the cream and heat briefly. Remove from the heat and season with lemon juice or vinegar so the flavor is pleasantly fresh. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
