Ingredients: 500 g plain flour; 200 g butter or margarine; 200 g granulated sugar; 2 tablespoons sour cream; 1 packet baking powder; 1 whole egg; a pinch of salt; 800 ml milk; 2 packets vanilla pudding powder; 4 tablespoons granulated sugar; 8–10 apples; sugar to taste; cinnamon to taste

Preparation procedure

Preparing the dough: Make a smooth dough from the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, egg and sour cream. Divide it into two parts – one larger and one smaller. Roll out the larger part and transfer it to a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Leave the smaller part for later to create the lattice.
Cream layer: Cook a thick pudding from the milk, pudding powder and sugar. After cooking, let it cool completely.
Apple layer: Peel the apples, grate them coarsely and sweeten to taste. Add cinnamon and let sit for a while. Then gently squeeze them so they don't release too much juice.
Assembling the pie: Spread the vanilla pudding evenly over the prepared dough. Spread the grated apples over it. Roll out the remaining dough and cut it into strips to form a lattice on the surface of the pie.
Baking: Brush the lattice with beaten egg and bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C for about 35–40 minutes, until the surface turns golden.
