Preparing the cake base Preheat the oven to 180 °C (160 °C for fan-assisted ovens). In a bowl, mix the sifted flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy (takes 5–7 minutes). Then gradually pour in the melted butter and gently mix.
