Baked tea is a beautiful reminder of grandma’s kitchen. It smells of cinnamon, vanilla, and fresh fruit, tastes sweet, and warms you even on the coldest days. This recipe allows you to prepare a supply of healthy, fragrant tea for the whole winter – and it’s simple, without preservatives or chemicals. You only need a few ingredients and an hour in the oven.

  • Preparing the fruit Thoroughly wash, clean, and cut the fruit into smaller pieces. Bananas are not recommended for baked tea because they will mush and lose their flavor when baked.
  • Mixing the ingredients Place the chopped fruit into an ovenproof dish with a higher rim. Add the cinnamon, vanilla sugar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cloves. Mix everything thoroughly.
  • Baking Place the dish in a preheated oven at 180 °C and bake for about 90 minutes. During baking, stir the mixture several times so the sugar dissolves evenly and the fruit doesn't burn. Toward the end you can add a bit of sugar to taste depending on the fruit's acidity.
  • Preserving Pour the hot baked tea into sterilized jars, close them tightly, turn them upside down, and wrap in a blanket. Let them cool slowly – this way they will keep for several months.
  • Serving For one cup (250–300 ml) use 1 tablespoon of baked tea and pour hot water over it. Let it steep for a few minutes. In winter you can add a bit of grated ginger for an extra dose of warmth and vitamins.
