- Mix all three ingredients in a pot.
- Place the pot over low heat and stir until the butter and sugar dissolve. When the mixture begins to foam, that's a clear sign that it's starting to boil.
- Increase the heat, continue cooking and don't forget to keep stirring. If the mixture starts to foam too much, slowly lower the heat. After the milk mixture thickens, cook it for exactly 10 more minutes.
- Remove the pot from the stove and place it into cold water. This will ensure that the condensed milk cools and thickens.
- Pour it into a suitable storage container. It's important that it be sealed and kept in a dry place in the refrigerator.
