- Mix the sugar and yeast into the warm milk. Wait until a yeast starter forms.
- In a bowl, mix the flour with salt, butter and quark.
- Mix the egg with the cream and add this mixture to the flour. Add the yeast starter to everything and work into a stiff dough.
- Put in the refrigerator for an hour.
- After an hour, take the dough out of the fridge and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1.5 cm thick. Sprinkle it with garlic and fold the sheet in half, again in half, and once more in half.
- Let rest for 10 minutes, then roll out and fold again.
- Again let rest for 10 minutes, roll out again and fold again.
- Roll out the dough processed this way into a final sheet 2 cm thick. Use a cup to cut out individual rounds.
- If you don't want to bother with the folds, add the garlic straight into the dough. You won't have to work it in like this.
- Transfer the rounds to a baking tray lined with baking paper and preheat the oven.
- Brush them with a beaten egg and put into the oven. Bake at 200 degrees for about 18 minutes.
