There is nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread wafting from the kitchen. If you don’t happen to have any baked goods at home, these homemade rolls can be prepared easily and quickly. They are beautifully fluffy, soft inside and crispy on the outside. Thanks to the added sparkling water they have a unique lightness and stay moist even the next day.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Add the oil, milk and sparkling water. Knead into a smooth and elastic dough that doesn't stick to your hands.
  • First rise Cover the dough with a cloth and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
  • Shaping the rolls Divide the risen dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into rolls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Baking Before baking, brush the rolls with beaten egg and sprinkle with seeds. Preheat the oven to 250 °C, then put the rolls in and immediately reduce the temperature to 190 °C. Bake for about 20 minutes, until the rolls are golden.
  • Finishing After baking, let them cool on a wire rack so they stay nicely crispy.
