Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the apple filling: Peel and grate the apples. Melt the butter in a pan, add the grated apples, sugar and cinnamon, and simmer over low heat until the apples soften. Before finishing, add a tablespoon of honey, stir and remove from the heat. Let the filling cool.
  • Preparing the dough: In a bowl beat the egg with the sugar, a pinch of salt and the vanilla sugar. Add the milk, melted butter and mix again. Finally add the flour mixed with the baking powder and work into a smooth, non-sticky and elastic dough.
  • Shaping the rolls: Divide the dough into two halves. Roll each half into a circle about 20 cm in diameter. Divide the circle into 8 triangles. Make a small cut in the narrower end of each triangle and fill them with the apple filling. Then start rolling them from the wider side toward the narrower end, forming the rolls.
  • Baking: Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 15–20 minutes, until nicely golden.
  • Finishing: Sprinkle the baked rolls with powdered sugar and serve.
