These homemade langos made with sour cream are among those recipes you will simply fall in love with. The dough is soft, beautifully airy and thanks to the sour cream it stays moist even after cooling. In addition, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three days, so you can enjoy fresh langos any time during the week. They taste great with garlic, cheese and ketchup, but you can also serve them sweet.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the starter: Crumble the yeast into a small bowl, add the powdered sugar and about 50 ml of lukewarm milk. Stir and leave in a warm place for 10–15 minutes for the starter to rise.
  • Preparing the dough: Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the salt and baking soda. Pour in the remaining lukewarm milk, the risen starter, the sour cream and the beaten eggs. Work into a smooth, supple dough by hand or using a stand mixer.
  • Proofing: Cover the finished dough with a clean tea towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it has doubled in size.
  • Shaping and frying: Cut smaller pieces from the risen dough and, with floured hands, shape them into round patties about 15 cm in diameter. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer and fry the langos on both sides until golden. After frying, let them drain on paper towels.
  • Storing the dough: If you don't use all the dough, you can store it in a plastic bag greased with a little oil. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and you can use it as needed.
