Homemade loupáky are the perfect treat for any morning. Thanks to the fluffy dough and fragrant butter you will fall in love with them at the first bite. They are great with jam, butter, or simply on their own.

Preparation procedure
- Preparing the starter: Pour a little lukewarm milk into a small bowl, add the yeast and a pinch of sugar. Stir and let the starter rise (about 10 minutes).
- Preparing the dough: Put the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt into a bowl and add the starter, melted butter and egg yolk. Mix everything thoroughly and work into a supple dough. Cover with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, until it has doubled in volume.
- Shaping the loupáky: After rising, transfer the dough to a floured work surface, divide it into 10 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Let the balls proof for another 20 minutes. Roll each ball out into a smaller disk and roll up into the shape of a loupák.
- Final proofing and baking: Transfer the loupáky to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Brush the loupáky with the beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake 15–20 minutes, until golden.
- Glaze after baking: Immediately after taking them out of the oven, brush the loupáky with a mixture of powdered sugar and rum. They will gain a beautiful shine and a more pronounced flavor.
