Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough Quickly process the flour, butter, powdered sugar, egg and lemon zest into a smooth dough. Wrap in cling film and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This helps the dough hold its shape better and prevents it from spreading during baking.
  • Shaping and baking Roll the rested dough out into a sheet about 3 mm thick. Cut out hearts or other shapes, transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 160 °C for about 10 minutes. Watch the color – the dough should remain pale and only lightly brown at the edges. Let cool completely.
  • Margot cream Beat the butter with powdered sugar until fluffy. Add the rum and then gently fold in the grated Margot. The cream should be smooth, easily spreadable and stable.
  • Assembling the cookies Spread the cream on the bottom halves of the hearts and top with the second half. If you want a stronger flavor, you can also add a thin layer of rum syrup between the cream layers (optional).
  • Chocolate glaze Melt the dark chocolate, fat and Ledové kaštany in a water bath. Stir until smooth. Dip or drizzle the cookies and, to taste, decorate with grated Margot, white chocolate or chopped nuts.
