  • Preparing the bottom layer Grease a 30 × 40 cm baking tray with butter and dust with flour. Spread the dough evenly over the entire surface and smooth it.
  • Jam layer Carefully spread a thin layer of currant or apricot jam over the dough. A thinner jam is ideal because it spreads more easily.
  • Nut filling Whip the egg whites and a pinch of salt into a soft meringue. Then beat in the powdered sugar spoon by spoon until a stiff, glossy meringue forms. Finally, gently fold in the ground walnuts.
