This traditional recipe combines tender cocoa and light dough with a smooth pudding-Nutella cream that gives the slice perfect taste and moisture. Preparation procedure

  • Dough preparation: Make a smooth dough from the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, melted butter, egg yolks and milk. Divide it into three equal parts – add cocoa to two of them and work it in thoroughly. This will produce two dark and one light sheet.
  • Baking: Roll out each sheet and bake separately on the back side of a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 180 °C for about 7 minutes, until the dough is lightly golden. After baking, let all the sheets cool.
  • Cream: Cook a thick pudding from the milk and pudding powder and let it cool completely. Meanwhile, beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy and add the Nutella. Then gradually fold the cooled pudding into the mixture to create a delicate, smooth and airy cream.
  • Assembling the slice: Spread a layer of cream on the bottom cocoa sheet, place the light sheet on top, spread cream again and cover with the second cocoa sheet. Spread the remaining cream over the surface and decorate with a fork or cocoa.
  • Chilling: Place the finished slices in the refrigerator for at least 3–4 hours, ideally overnight, so that all the layers meld and the dessert develops perfect flavor and consistency.
