Do you like fries but don’t want unnecessary calories from oil? These “fit” potato fries are baked in the oven, without a drop of fat and still wonderfully crispy. The secret is in the light egg-white coating and stronger seasoning. Great as a quick side dish or a healthy snack for movie night.

Ingredients

Preparation procedure

  • Preheat the oven to 200 °C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Peel, wash, and cut the potatoes into thin fries.
  • Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks. Fold in the salt, sweet paprika, and pepper.
  • Place the fries in a large bowl, pour over the seasoned egg-white mixture and mix well so every piece is coated.
  • Spread in a single layer on the baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden; halfway through baking, stir/turn the fries for even cooking.
  • After removing from the oven, add salt if needed and serve immediately.

Servings: 4

Total preparation time: 15–20 minutes

Tips

  • For extra crispiness, cut the fries thinner and bake using the convection setting.

  • Change up the flavor: smoked paprika, garlic powder, herbs, chili.

  • For “parmesan style” lightly sprinkle finely grated cheese at the end of baking.

Conclusion

Oil-free fries prove that “light” doesn’t mean tasteless. Thanks to the egg-white coating they get an appealing crust and stay soft inside. They’re ready in no time, so they work well for a quick dinner or a lighter snack. Add them to your meal plan when you want to indulge without guilt.
