Onion rings are among the simplest and most delicious savory treats you can prepare at home. Crispy on the outside, gently sweet on the inside – and with homemade garlic mayonnaise they taste absolutely divine.

Preparation procedure
- Peel the onions and cut into slices about half-centimetre thick. Carefully separate the individual rings.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper and sweet paprika. Add the egg and milk and stir until a smooth batter of medium consistency forms.
- First coat the onion rings in the batter, then in the breadcrumbs. Fry them in hot oil (about 170 °C) until golden – approximately 2 minutes on each side. Then let them drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the pressed garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper. You can also add a little chopped parsley to taste.
- Serve the rings still warm with the garlic mayonnaise as a dip. They are also great with meat or as a snack with beer.
