  • Preparing the batter: Place the eggs in a bowl and start whisking them. Gradually add the flour and baking powder until you obtain a homogeneous batter. Add the quark and honey. Continue whisking until the batter is completely smooth and free of lumps. If you like a citrus aroma, add lemon zest to the batter.
  • Preparing the apples: Peel the apples, remove the cores and slice them thinly. If you want to enhance the apple flavor, you can sprinkle them with cinnamon and drizzle with lemon juice.
  • Baking: Spread the batter evenly into a round baking tin (greased beforehand or lined with baking paper). Arrange the sliced apples on the batter. You can arrange them so they cover the entire surface. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 40 minutes, until the cake is golden and the apples are tender.
  • Serving: After baking, let the cake cool slightly and then serve. It tastes great on its own or with a dollop of sour cream.
