  • Yeast starter Pour the warm milk into a bowl, add the sugar and dry yeast, stir and let stand for 10 minutes until foam forms on the surface.
  • Mixing the dough Stir the egg, salt, orange zest and oil into the activated starter. Gradually work in the flour and knead until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  • Enriching with butter Add the softened butter and knead for another 2–3 minutes so the butter is fully absorbed and the dough is elastic and smooth.
  • First rise Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  • Shaping Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, divide into equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Let them rest under a cloth to rise briefly for 10 minutes.
  • Frying Heat a pan over medium heat with a small amount of oil (just lightly covering the bottom). Gently flatten the balls and fry until golden on both sides, 2–3 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel.
  • Finishing While still warm, dust with powdered sugar and serve.

  • 20 minutes active work + 40 minutes rising and frying
