Steamed buns, also known as „blbáčiky,“ are a popular traditional dessert you’ll love thanks to their easy preparation. This recipe is so simple that anyone can make it. Enjoy the fluffy buns filled to your liking!

Preparation procedure
- Dough preparation: Pour part of the water into a bowl and crumble the yeast into it. As soon as it begins to dissolve, add a little flour, the remaining water and the egg. Mix well. Gradually add the flour with the salt and mix until you have a smooth and elastic dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
- Shaping the buns: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it out into a thinner sheet. Use a glass to cut out circles. Put the filling of your choice (plum jam, fruit) into the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and shape it into a ball. Let the finished buns rise for another 10 minutes under the cloth.
- Steaming the buns: Pour water into a pot and fasten a cloth over the top with an elastic band. Place the buns on the cloth, cover them with a lid and steam for 10 minutes. Remove the buns, pierce with a toothpick and serve immediately.
