- Preparation of the basic ingredients: Crack the egg into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and beat the egg with a fork. Pour in the hot water and mix thoroughly. Then add the oil and stir everything well into a smooth mixture.
- Adding the flour: Gradually stir the sifted flour into the liquid mixture – first the plain flour, then the semi-coarse flour. Mix until all the ingredients come together into a uniform dough.
- Kneading the dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and begin kneading. Continue until the dough stops sticking to the board – about 4–5 minutes. The more you work the dough, the smoother it will be and the better the finished pasta will be.
- Resting the dough: Let the finished dough rest for about 15 minutes, covered with a bowl so it doesn't dry out.
- Using the dough: Then roll the dough out into a thin sheet and use as desired – for pierogi, filled pockets, dumplings, or other homemade pasta. You can make many variations from this dough, exactly to suit your tastes and needs.
