Preparation procedure
- Preparing the dough: Mix the yeast, sugar, oil and salt with the lukewarm milk and flour. Work into a smooth yeasted dough that is slightly loose – this ensures a fluffy structure of the rolls.
- Let the dough rise: Divide the dough into 6 loaves and let them rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preparing the fillings: Poppy seed filling: Bring the milk with the sugar to a boil, add the ground poppy seeds, stir and simmer briefly. Nut filling: The procedure is the same as for the poppy seed filling – heat the milk with the sugar, add the ground nuts and simmer briefly.
- Shaping the rolls: Roll each loaf into a thin circle and divide into 12 triangles. Place a teaspoon of filling on the wider part of the triangle and roll up into a crescent.
- Baking: Place the crescent rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 20 minutes or until golden.
- Serving: Let cool and serve with tea or coffee.
