This traditional poppy seed strudel is one of those recipes passed down in families from generation to generation. Preparation procedure

  • We heat the poppy seeds with the milk over low heat and let it thicken. We soak the raisins in hot water, drain them and stir them into the poppy seed mixture together with the sugar. Let it cool.
  • In a bowl, we work the flour, butter, sugar, oil, milk, baking powder and salt into a smooth dough. Divide it into two parts.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the first portion of dough, spread the filling, roll up and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Prepare the second strudel the same way.
  • Brush the strudels with beaten egg and bake at 180 °C for about 45 minutes until golden.
