  • Preparing the dough Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface into a thin rectangle.
  • Preparing the filling In a bowl, mix the quark, powdered and vanilla sugar, the egg, pudding powder and, if desired, rum. Mix everything until smooth.
  • Filling and rolling Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out dough. Then carefully roll the dough into a tight log.
  • Cutting and preparing for baking Cut the roll with a sharp knife into slices about 1 to 1.5 cm thick. Place the swirls cut-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brushing and baking Brush each swirl with beaten egg. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C for approximately 15–20 minutes, until golden.
