  • Preparing the batter: In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa, a pinch of salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the water and oil and stir. If the batter is too thick, add a little more water. Line a 24 cm diameter pan with baking paper and grease the sides. Pour the prepared batter into the pan.
  • Baking: Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40–45 minutes. After baking, test the cake base with a toothpick to see if it's done.
  • Preparing the cream: Pour the fruit juice into a pot and add the semolina. Stirring constantly, cook until the mixture thickens to the consistency of a thick porridge. After cooking, cover the cream with plastic wrap and let it cool.
  • Finishing the cake: Level off the top of the cooled cake base so the surface is even, then cut it horizontally into 2 parts. After cooling, whip the cream with a hand mixer. Slightly moisten the base with milk and spread the cream evenly on the bottom layer. Cover with the second cake layer. Spread the remaining cream over the cake and sprinkle with crumbled trimmings from the base. Place the cake in the refrigerator and let it set for at least 1 hour.
