Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the apples: Soak the raisins in the rum. Peel the apples, grate them and put them into a pot. Add the cinnamon sugar and raisins, briefly simmer until the apples soften and release their juice.
  • Preparing the batter: Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the sugar, milk and oil. Whisk everything well with a whisk. Finally add the sifted flour with the baking powder and gently mix until a smooth batter forms.
  • Baking – first layer: Line a baking tray (20 × 30 cm) with parchment paper. Pour half of the batter and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 10–12 minutes, until the batter firms up.
  • Second layer: Remove the tray, layer the stewed apples and spread them evenly. Pour the second half of the batter over and return to the oven. Bake for another 20–25 minutes until golden.
  • Finishing: Let cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares or slices.
