The cheese pie is a great choice for all cheese lovers. If you enjoy watching the cheese melt beautifully in the oven and turn golden and crispy on the surface, then this recipe will definitely please you. And what’s more – its preparation is simple and the result is worth it! It will feed the whole family and is ideal for breakfast, dinner or as a snack.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparation of the dough: Dissolve the dried yeast and sugar in warm milk. Add the egg, salt, 50 g softened butter and the sifted flour. Mix all the ingredients and form a dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume.
  • Preparation of the layers: After rising, divide the dough into 7 equal parts. Roll out one portion of dough into a thin disc and place it in a greased pan (20x25 cm). Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with grated cheese. Repeat this process with the remaining layers, alternately placing dough and cheese. Brush every second layer only with melted butter, without cheese.
  • Finishing: Brush the last layer of dough with egg yolk. Cut the pie into squares, but do not separate them. Cover with cling film and let the dough rest for 20 minutes in a warm place.
  • Baking: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Bake the pie for approximately 40 minutes, until nicely golden.

You can serve the pie as a delicious breakfast with tea or coffee, but you can also take it with you to work or on a trip as a quick snack. It tastes great cold too!
