This cream slice is a proven classic: crispy puff pastry, a rich vanilla pudding cream and a light mascarpone-whipped cream create a dessert you’ll fall in love with at the first bite.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the puff pastry: Prick the sheets with a fork so they don't puff up during baking. You can pre-cut one of the sheets into squares to make later portioning easier. Bake at 180 °C (fan 160 °C) until golden (approx. 15 min). Let cool.
  • Vanilla pudding cream: Cook the puddings according to the instructions in 700 ml of milk. Let them cool completely, then beat in room-temperature butter until a smooth cream forms.
  • Mascarpone-whipped cream: Whip the cream with the stabilizers until firm. Add the mascarpone and sweeten with sugar to taste. Whip only until the mixture is creamy and firm.
  • Assembling the cream slice: Spread the pudding cream evenly over the bottom baked sheet. Spread the mascarpone-whipped cream on top and smooth the surface. Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  • Resting: Cover the cream slice and refrigerate for at least 12 hours (preferably overnight) so the flavors and texture can fully mature.
  • Portioning and serving: Cut into 12–16 pieces with a sharp knife and serve chilled.
