- Preparing the dough Sift the flour into a bowl and add the dried yeast, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt. Add the eggs, the egg white, and the cream with the raisins. Thoroughly work into a uniform, smooth, and elastic dough.
- Rising Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place until it increases in volume (about 1 hour).
- Shaping the vánočka After rising, knead the dough in your hands and divide it into smaller rolls according to the number of strands you want to braid. You can braid the vánočka from two or three strands. I recommend starting with three and adding two more on top.
- Baking Transfer the braided dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise again. Brush with the egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 190–200 degrees Celsius. Bake for approximately 35–40 minutes; it's a good idea to watch the vánočka so it doesn't burn.
