Preparation procedure
- Preparation of the sponge: Whisk the eggs with powdered sugar and softened butter until foamy. Gradually add the dry Melta, cocoa, sifted flour and baking powder. Finally, slowly stir in the milk and beat until a smooth batter forms. Pour the batter into a round pan lined with baking paper or greased and floured. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 30–35 minutes. Check doneness with a skewer — if it comes out dry, the cake is done. Let the baked base cool completely.
- Preparation of the cream: Buttercream: Beat the softened butter with powdered sugar and add 2 teaspoons of cooled strong Melta. The cream has a delicate but pronounced flavor. If you have a little Melta left, you can gently brush the base with it. Curd-Melta cream (alternative): Mix full-fat curd with strong cooled Melta and sugar to taste. For a firmer consistency, fold in gelatin prepared according to the instructions.
- Finishing the cake: Spread the cream evenly over the cooled base. Sprinkle with ground nuts and, to taste, add pieces of canned fruit.
- Serving: Let the finished melt cake chill in the refrigerator for a while before serving so the cream firms up nicely.
