Preparation procedure
- Preparing the starter: Mix 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water, the yeast, the sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour. Let the starter rest in a warm place for approximately 10 minutes, until it starts to bubble.
- Dough: When the starter has risen, mix it with the remaining flour, salt, oil and lukewarm water. Work into a uniform and smooth dough that should be elastic and non-sticky. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 40 minutes so that it doubles in volume.
- Shaping the rolls: After rising, divide the dough into 15-16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an elongated flat and shape into a roll. Transfer the rolls to a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush with a mixture of beaten egg mixed with a little milk.
- Baking: Bake in a preheated oven either at 150 °C for 20 minutes, or at 200 °C for 10-15 minutes, until they are nicely golden and crispy.
