If you long for fresh, homemade baked goods, try this recipe for French brioches. They are tender, fluffy, and the whole family will definitely fall in love with them. Ideal for breakfast or as an accompaniment to afternoon coffee!

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the starter Dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 15 minutes to activate.
  • Dough Place the eggs, melted butter, sugar, salt, and the starter into a bowl and gradually add the flour. Mix all ingredients and knead into a soft, pliable dough. If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour.
  • Dividing the dough Divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll each part into a roughly 0.5 cm thick disc.
  • Shaping Using a glass, cut round shapes from the dough. Fold each piece in half and transfer to a greased baking sheet with enough spacing.
  • Proofing Cover the baking sheet with foil and let the brioches rise for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  • Baking Brush each brioche with beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame to taste. Bake for 25 minutes, until the brioches turn golden.

Serving

Serve warm or cooled with butter, jam, or as a side for breakfast.
