  • 1. Preparing the pot: Take a pot with high sides (the milk may foam and boil over while cooking) and pour the milk into it. Add the butter and sifted powdered sugar.
  • 2. Cooking: Over low heat stir until the butter and sugar dissolve. Then increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it starts boiling, cook for another 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • 3. Storage: Pour the finished Salko into a jar and let it cool. For a better consistency it's best to leave it in the refrigerator overnight. After cooling it will thicken.

You can use homemade Salko for baking, ice cream making, liqueurs, or various desserts.
