Ingredients: 100 g margarine; 100 g plain flour; 0,5 dl milk; 6 eggs; 1 teaspoon salt; 300 g ham (or ham salami); 300 g hard cheese (gouda, emmental or trappist); 200 g mayonnaise; 200 ml sour cream; 2–3 tablespoons chopped pickled cucumbers; chopped parsley to taste; 200 g cream cheese (e.g., žervé) or sour cream; grated cheese to taste

Preparing the dough Melt the margarine in a saucepan, add the flour and briefly toast it. Then gradually pour in the milk and stir until the mixture thickens. After removing from the heat, let it cool. Beat the yolks into the cooled mixture one at a time and finally gently fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour the finished batter onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for 30 minutes, until the base turns golden.

Preparing the filling Finely chop the ham and the cucumbers, grate the cheese. Mix everything with the mayonnaise, sour cream and chopped parsley. Mix well until you have a smooth and creamy filling.

Assembling the cake Cut the cooled base in half. Spread the prepared filling on the bottom layer, place the second layer on top and press lightly. Spread the surface with cream cheese or sour cream, sprinkle with grated cheese and decorate as you like – for example with slices of ham, cherry tomatoes or green herbs.
