If you like delicate desserts that melt on the tongue, this recipe for whipped cream squares will delight you. The combination of airy batter, buttery cream and whipped cream with a cocoa sprinkle is simply perfect.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparation of the batter: Whip the egg whites into stiff peaks. Slowly add the powdered sugar and mix. Mix the flour with the baking powder and gently fold into the egg whites. Pour the batter into a pan (approx. 35 × 35 cm) lined with baking paper. Bake at 180 °C for about 15 minutes.
  • Preparation of the cream: In 3 dl of milk, whisk the egg yolks, add the flour and mix well to create a smooth mixture. Bring the remaining milk to a boil, add the sugar and vanilla sugar. Then gradually pour in the mixture of egg yolks and flour. Cook, stirring constantly, until the cream thickens. Let it cool completely. Whip the cream until stiff peaks form and set aside. Beat the butter with the powdered sugar. Fold the whipped cream and the butter mixture into the cooled cream. Beat everything until smooth.
  • Assembly: Spread the prepared cream evenly over the baked batter. Whip additional cream and spread it as the final layer on the dessert. Sprinkle the surface with cocoa, cinnamon, or grated chocolate.
