Ingredients

Preparation procedure

  • Preparation of the peppers Wash the peppers, remove the stems and, to taste, the seeds. Chop them finely or blend them. We recommend using gloves – the capsaicin from chili burns even after contact with the skin.
  • Cutting the onion Peel the onion and chop finely, or use a food processor. Mix with the chopped peppers.
  • Cooking the brine Pour the vinegar and water into a pot, add salt, sugar and spices and briefly boil (1–2 minutes). Let it sit for a moment.
  • Filling the jars Divide the pepper-onion mixture into clean, sterilized jars. Pour the hot brine over to the rim.
  • Sealing Immediately close the jars with lids. For longer shelf life we recommend processing them in a water bath for 15 minutes.

Total preparation time: approx. 45 minutes

Number of servings: 4–5 jars (volume 300–400 ml)

Serving

Serve the salad as a spicy side to meat, in burgers, on toasts or simply with bread and butter or lard. It’s also excellent in the winter months – it warms you up perfectly and gives the food a kick.

Recipe conclusion

This spicy salad is proof that even without preservatives and added chemicals you can prepare a long-lasting, flavorful and healthy treat. The jars will keep in the pantry for months and make a great original edible gift. If you love hot food, you’ll fall in love with this recipe.
