Ingredients

Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the starter Crumble the yeast into a bowl, add a pinch of sugar and a little lukewarm milk. Let the starter rise in a warm place for about 10–15 minutes.
  • Dough Pour the flour into a large bowl, add the salt, eggs, starter and the remaining milk. Work into a smooth, non-sticky dough. Cover with a cloth and let rise for approximately 45 minutes, until the dough doubles in volume.
  • Shaping the dumplings Divide the risen dough into equal portions. Flatten each piece in your palm, place a washed strawberry inside and wrap into a dumpling shape. Set aside and let rest for a while.
  • Cooking Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Place the dumplings into the boiling water and cook for 8 minutes. Carefully turn them halfway through cooking. After cooking, remove them, pierce with a fork to let out steam, and brush with melted lard so they do not dry out.
