Preparation procedure
- Dough preparation: Mix the flour, egg yolks, butter, sugar, yeast, sour cream, a pinch of salt and the vanilla sugar. Add warm milk as needed and knead the dough thoroughly until it is smooth and elastic. Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume.
- Cream preparation: Whip the egg whites into stiff peaks. In another bowl, mix the curd cheese, sour cream, sugar, egg yolks, bread crumbs, flour, vanilla sugar and lemon zest. Finally, gently fold in the whipped egg whites.
- Shaping the cake: Divide the risen dough into two parts. Roll out the first part of the dough into a sheet and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Evenly spread the prepared filling over the dough. Also roll out the second part of the dough and cover the filling with it. Seal the edges of the dough well. Brush the top of the cake with melted butter.
- Baking: Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 170 °C for about 35–40 minutes, until the surface turns golden.
- Serving: After baking, let the cake cool and serve. You can sprinkle powdered sugar on it before serving for a sweeter taste.
